Demand for the potency-enhancing drug Viagra doubled from February 15 to 17, RIA Novosti was told at the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (CRPT), which operates the Chestny Znak labeling system.

Demand for Viagra in Russia has doubled after news of the drug’s supply being discontinued

Earlier it became known that the American pharmaceutical company Viatris stopped the supply of Viagra to the Russian Federation. The Ministry of Industry and Trade then assured that the Russian pharmaceutical industry has every opportunity to produce drugs with the same active ingredient.

It is noted that the demand jumped specifically for the patented drug, sales of drugs based on sildenafil (active ingredient) grew only 5%.

In total, in 2022, 9.4 million packages of such drugs were sold in the country for a total of 7.3 billion rubles. Most often, drugs for maintaining potency were purchased in St. Petersburg, the Moscow region, the Krasnodar and Kamchatka Territories.
