In 2022, the United States banned the supply of equipment to China for the manufacture of chips and components for the assembly of supercomputers. The latter is used specifically to train neural networks. Chinese companies can’t get NVIDIA A100 processors, for example.
It turned out that Chinese companies have begun to lease capacity from cloud providers whose servers are built on the NVIDIA A100. This method is more expensive than buying your own equipment.
