According to users, the printers no longer display the “cannot guarantee quality” message, instead completely blocking printing until a genuine HP cartridge is installed.
The problem appeared specifically on the OfficeJet 7740 and OfficeJet Pro 6970 models. The update probably came quite recently, since for many users the refusal to work with third-party cartridges came as a surprise.
