We are talking about Virtualization Based Security (VBS), a built-in component designed to increase the security of the operating system through the use of hardware and software virtualization.

Experts conducted a series of experiments that showed that it reduces system performance, especially when running resource-intensive applications such as games.

Yes, disabling VBS poses a minor security risk, but at the same time, the authors of the study recommend that users consider this option to speed up their computers.

Note that similar results were previously reported by our colleagues at PC Gamer in October 2021 – the editors noted a 30% increase in game performance after disabling VBS.
