Lower extremity arteries are most commonly affected in PAD. In this case, the blood vessels narrow, the normal blood flow is disturbed, leading to insufficient blood supply to the tissues of the lower extremities.

In the new study, the authors looked at incidence rates among 650,000 adults. They then compared these to sleep duration. The results showed that not following a 7 or 9 hour sleep schedule increased the risk of developing PAH.
