By 2022, 40% of Russian companies have cut their ESG budgets. This year, most executives plan to adjust their sustainability goals and review their ESG strategies. This is evidenced by the results of a study conducted by Mikhailov and Partners, the results of which were reviewed by RB.RU.

52% of Russian companies plan to review their ESG strategies

70% of companies prepare sustainability reports and plan to continue certifying them next year. Another 84% of respondents inform their employees about the organization’s sustainability and ESG activities, as they see it as a loyalty factor.

At the same time, 55% of Russian companies are not yet ready to involve their employees in planning ESG initiatives. Another 70% of respondents consider social as the main direction of ESG and focus their attention on it. The environment is in second place: 62% noted it.

The study was carried out in December 2022 – January 2023, the sample was more than 17 thousand people. Among the respondents are the heads of expert organizations, ESG specialists, the top management of Russian companies.

Oleg Bazaleev, an expert on ESG, CSR, sustainable development and head of the Department of Social Affairs at Crescent Petroleum, told RB.RU about each of the stages of working with the ESG strategy and explained how these steps fit into the realities of Russia. culture.
