In fact, it all started last month when the US government filed a lawsuit in court demanding that Google sanction Google for using automatic deletion of messages in chats to destroy evidence. Among other things, the company has been accused of providing false information to the government that it has suspended this automatic deletion practice.
Now Google has challenged the sanctions petition by filing an application in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Google stated that it uses a “layered approach” to recording chats: “While the lawsuit is pending, Google instructs its employees who are on legal vacation not to use messaging apps like Google Chat to discuss the issues in the lawsuit, and if they have to, change the settings… saved”Google said in a statement.
It seems the trial won’t end there, so all that remains is to observe.
