Alfa-Bank again filed claims against Svyaznoy: for the first, the amount of claims is 7.67 billion rubles, for the second – 548 million rubles, the Vedomosti newspaper reports.
Both lawsuits were brought against Svyaznoy’s parent company, DTS Retail, as guarantor of loans issued by Alfa-Bank to Seti Svyaznoy.
These are not the first lawsuits filed by the bank against Svyaznoy. In July 2022, the bank filed lawsuits with the Moscow Arbitration Court against Network Svyaznoy and DTS Retail.
Both lawsuits for 5.5 billion and 5.9 billion rubles, respectively, concerned a factoring transaction for the supply of electronic products through the distributor Merlion. The proceedings on them lasted until the end of 2022 and ended with a settlement agreement.
However, in mid-December, two weeks after the court approved the settlement, the third party in the case, the distributor Merlion, filed an appeal against the court’s decision.
Lawyers interviewed by Vedomosti believe this may mean that the terms of the court-approved settlement agreement were not met, which could lead to a new lawsuit by Alfa Bank against the guarantor of Svyaznoy DTS Retail.
- For the first time, Svyaznoy’s problems became known in mid-2022. In September last year, the retailer received more than 80 claims worth more than 20 billion rubles from creditors, suppliers, lessors and logistics companies. .
- In February 2023, Svyaznoy will file for bankruptcy with the Moscow Arbitration Court.
