Experts of the online car buying and selling service “SberAvto” explained how to take a photo of your car in order to quickly and successfully sell it. According to the company, a well-designed advertisement and informative photos make up 50% of the success of a car sale.
SberAuto gave six tips, with which RB.RU got acquainted.
prepare your car
In order for the car in the picture to look attractive, it must be cleaned both outside and inside. You should also clean the cabin and trunk, and if cleaning on your own is not enough, then dry clean the cabin.
It is better to remove from the cabin all the details that can say something about the current owner: toys, pendants from the rear-view mirror, the contents of pockets in the car doors. Experts point out that buyers prefer to see a car without the previous owner’s markings, making it easier to visualize it as their own.
Think about the location
It is not necessary to shoot a car against the background of garbage cans, rickety fences, dirty snowdrifts, old houses. Experts advise choosing quiet places with a neutral background without unnecessary elements that will not distract the main subject of the photos.
It is also important to note that the color of the car does not blend in with the surroundings, but shiny items should also be avoided as they can reflect off the car’s surface and distort its actual color.
The street is best suited for photography, and for the background you need to choose a solid fence, a wall or a large body of water.
Pick a comfortable time to shoot
It is better not to rent a car at night and in bright sunlight. For photos, clear weather is fine, but you should shoot so that the sun is behind you. A cloudy day with good daylight is fine too, but it’s important that the sky doesn’t look white in the photo; overexposure will ruin framing and distort colors.
Experiment with angle and scale
In order for the pictures to be informative, SberAvto advises you to shoot from different angles – from a low and high angle, and then select the most successful shots. Front, back, left and right photos are required.
The most “winning” angle for most cars is three-quarters, such a photo is suitable for the cover of an advertisement.
It is also recommended not to leave too much space on the sides of the photos and not to use the flash.
Pay attention to the details
It is worth taking pictures of the open trunk, hood and doors, taking pictures of the wheels and rims. It is also better not to hide external defects (scratches or dents); they will still meet during a “live” exam.
It is best to ensure that the pictures provide the buyer with complete information about the condition of the car. Photos of the interior are also required. It is worth photographing the seats so that there is a general view of both the driver’s and passenger’s seats. It is recommended to remove the front panel with separate devices.
For a photo session, it is better for the seller to dress in soft colors: if a reflection in any of the mirrors or on the surfaces hits the frame, it will not attract attention.
adjust photos
In the resulting photos, it’s best to crop off excess frames and experiment with brightness for accurate color reproduction. It will not hurt to make a moderate blur of the background behind the car in general photos.
It is best to save the photo in the exact size that is required on the ad sites; then the program will not stretch or compress the images, and they will not lose quality.
