Former Google engineer: in 8 years, humanity will become immortal

Former engineer Google Ray Kurzweil’s name has been in the media for quite some time now, as his technology predictions, 147 to be exact, were 86 percent correct.

The former Mountain View official spoke to the Adagio YouTube channel, discussing the spread of genetics, nanotechnology and robotics, which he believes will lead to age-reversing “nanobots”.

Kurzweil was hired by Google in 2012 to “work on new projects related to machine learning and language processing.”

In 1990, he predicted that the best chess player in the world would lose to a computer in 2000, and this happened in 1997 when Deep Blue beat Gary Kasparov.

In 1999, Kurzweil made another startling prediction: he said that by 2023, a $1,000 laptop would have the processing power and storage capacity of a human brain.

“We’ll have more neocortex, we’ll have more fun, we’ll be more musically savvy. Let’s be sexier,” she said.

“We’re really going to showcase more of what we value in people,” he said.

The former Google engineer also added that “we will be able to meet the physical needs of all people. Let’s broaden our horizons and showcase these artistic qualities that we appreciate.”
