Creating and editing videos just got easier on Chromebooks, with the Google Photos app update released Thursday (30) by the Mountain View company. The new version of the software brings various optimizations for fast creations.

With new video editing features in Chrome OS, users can create their movies from scratch or using suggested themes. For manual productions, go to the “New movie” or “Start from scratch” options at the top of the screen, select the footage and combine them according to the storyboard at the bottom.

Clicking on a photo or video on the timeline opens a menu with various tools that let you add a custom soundtrack, add text, and change the aspect ratio of images, among other things. Finally, just press “End movie” and save the creation to the gallery with the possibility to share it.

In the suggested themes option, Google Photos for Chrome OS will automatically select photos and videos from available files in the device’s library. It will also be able to select parts of longer clips, but will have the option to change the order of the images if the user wishes.
