The recall affects approximately 53,000 hoverboards sold on the Target and Jetson website between August 2018 and November 2021. There were numerous reports of them igniting, sparking or melting, and the Pennsylvania Fire Department determined that one of the Jetson Bandits had started the fire that killed the two children.

The children’s parents sued Jetson and Target, arguing that companies should know about the risk of injury from the fire.
