AlfaStrakhovanie ranked the most stolen vehicles from legal entities in 2022. The Korean brand Hyundai became the leader, the company said.
The insurer analyzed the resources of corporate clients on hull insurance in 2022. Every third commercial vehicle that was stolen last year turned out to be a Korean Hyundai.
The most demanded model, as well as in the private segment, was the Santa Fe. The second most popular car brand is Kia. Their Russian businessmen were deprived in 12% of cases. Most of the time, the hijackers were interested in the Sorento model.
The most popular brands by theft in 2022 in the commercial vehicle segment:
- Hyundai – frequency of theft 33%
- kia – 12%
- Toyota – 9%
- Crown – 9%
- GAS – 6%
- CAMAZ – 6%
“A large number of Hyundai cars are used in taxis, car sharing and small industries. Their security systems create favorable opportunities for car thieves. Heavy cargo transportation is stolen less often,” Alexander Kharagezov, director of AlfaStrakhovanie’s insurance payments department, commented on the results.
Previously, the Renaissance Insurance group looked at the frequency of car theft from people. So, the most popular car model for theft in 2022 was the Hyundai Palisade. Analysts have come to the conclusion that Korean car theft cases have become more frequent in Russia.
