The French company Bonduelle left the large Russian business association Rusbrand, as explained by a source to Izvestia and confirmed in the organization itself.

Bonduelle withdrew from the Rusbrand Business Association

The cannery manufacturer will cease to trade as of 2024. The company itself indicated that they continue to operate in the country, but they did not report the reasons for Rusbrand’s departure. The publication’s interlocutors claim that the company has already moved one of its Russian offices to Kazakhstan.

In 2022, the world’s largest brands left the Rusbrand Association, which as a result left the Russian market. Among them are Nike and Coca-Cola Company (a division that was dedicated to marketing).

Bonduelle did not previously plan to leave Russia, the French company’s representative office has been operating in the country since 1994. There are currently three factories and two agricultural sites operating in the Russian Federation.

At the beginning of winter, the large Ukrainian retailers refused to buy Bonduelle products. The company was suspected of supporting the Russian army taking part in the hostilities in Ukraine.

The experts interviewed by Izvestia believe that Bonduelle’s departure from Rusbrand creates the preconditions for the termination of work in the country. According to Petr Shelishch, president of the Union of Consumers of the Russian Federation, the refusal of Ukrainian supermarket chains to make purchases could lead to a reassessment of the company’s reputational risks.

He added that the manufacturer’s team in Russia has 500 people, this is only 5% of the total staff.
