Chinese search service Baidu has sued Apple and “relevant developers.” The author of ChatGPT’s Chinese competitor, Ernie’s AI bot, claims that fake apps have appeared on the AppStore that imitate Ernie’s work.
According to Reuters, on its WeChat account, the Chinese developer company said: “Currently, Ernie does not have an official app.”
The lawsuit was filed with the Beijing Haidian People’s Court, and photos of the documents were released under Baidu’s statement:
“Prior to our company’s official announcement, any Ernie app you see on the App Store or other stores is fake.”
Reuters analysts searched Apple’s app store and found at least four apps with the Chinese name Ernie bot. As a result, they are all fake.
The Ernie bot is only available to users who have requested and received official access codes. In a statement, Baidu also warned against selling fake access codes.
