The State Duma proposed to remove the blocking of Twitter, which has been in force for more than a year. The reason was the restoration of access to the accounts of the Russian government departments: after the start of the special operation, they were excluded from the search results, but the new owner of the social network decided to fix this.

Twitter opened access to the accounts of Russian state departments: offered to unblock the social network

State Duma deputy Anton Gorelkin proposed to discuss the issue of removing the blocking of the social network Twitter. He wrote about this on his channel in the Telegram messenger.

Gorelkin believes that if Twitter is now “aimed at neutrality,” then it is necessary to “resume dialogue with it” in accordance with the law.

“And for our government departments, Twitter can once again become a convenient platform to explain Russia’s position to Western audiences,” the deputy added.

Twitter has again started issuing accounts of Russian government departments, including the Kremlin, the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Russian Defense Ministry.

After the start of the special operation in Ukraine, these accounts were excluded from Twitter search results, but the new owner of the social network, Elon Musk, decided to fix this. Also, channels of pro-government channels of foreign media, for example, the British BBC TV channel, began to be marked with a special label.

Access to the social network Twitter has been blocked in Russia since February 24, 2022. Roskomnadzor, which restricts access to Internet resources, previously noted that there are still no reasons to unblock the social network.
