AMD RX Vega 56 – Chinese graphics card from AliExpress. It comes with a custom-built heatsink with three fans. Everything looks pretty cool, but how in reality?
The host of the Miyconst YouTube channel underlined the advantages of the AMD RX Vega 56 graphics card. First of all, this is still original, not fake and GPU-Z recognizes it. The included fans are actually pretty good too, and you’ll barely hear them unless you crank the speed up to 100. And the video card comes with two offsets: it has a special jumper.
I chose it instead of advertising.
According to the expert, the main problem of AMD RX Vega 56 is that it does not keep the frequency. Under heavy load it should stay between 1500-1550 MHz but ends up between 1100 and 1300 MHz. Also by default the video card is limited to 265 watts, which is substandard. It does not support the required clock frequency even if the power limit is removed. Under load, it mainly maintains a frequency between 1350 and 1450 MHz. And if you try to manually adjust the frequency using programs, the video card will go into safe mode and will not respond to any settings.
After overclocking the memory from the standard 800 MHz to 900 MHz (i3-12100, DDR4-3200) and removing the power limitations, the performance results were still lower than expected: around 80-90 fps.
Finally, the AMD RX Vega 56’s minus is its build quality. On this video card, all the screws were loosely tightened and after disassembling the case’s paint began to peel off partially.
In general, it is better not to order AMD RX Vega 56 from AliExpress at all. Instead, the expert recommended buying the RX 5500 XT or RX 5700 XT.
