The European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol) believes that Russian airspace will be closed to flights to Europe until 2029. This is reported in the Eurocontrol report.

The EU suggested that Russia’s airspace will be closed to flights to Europe until 2029.

“We currently assume that Ukrainian and Russian airspace will remain closed until the end of the planning horizon (2029),” the report says.

Eurocontrol noted that the number of flights through northern Europe from Asia has decreased, as it was necessary to “reroute routes through the countries of the south-east.”

Following the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, many Western countries closed their airspace to Russian aircraft. After that, Russia took mirror measures and banned airlines from 36 countries from flying over the country’s territory.
