Mindfulness meditation is a practice that teaches you to focus on the present moment and not be distracted by thoughts about the past or the future. This meditation also includes breathing exercises.

The researchers conducted an experiment with 42 participants, of whom 22 were regular meditators and 20 were beginners. They measured the participants’ heart rate and tested their cognitive abilities using the Stroop test. This test consists in the fact that you need to quickly determine the color of a word that does not match its meaning (for example, the word “green” is written in red).

The results showed that even a 10-minute mindfulness meditation session improved the cognitive performance of the participants. This suggests that meditation can be an effective tool to increase mental capacity in a short time.
