Ministry of Digital Development prepares draft decree on digital passport

The Ministry of Digital Transformation has published a draft decree on digital passports. According to the document, the presentation of a document in digital and paper format will be equivalent.

The passport in digital form can be presented through the “Gosuslugi” application. At the same time, the decision to present a digital passport instead of a paper one will be voluntary on the part of citizens.

The Government will be instructed to approve all the procedures for the use of the request of the State Services for the presentation of a digital passport within a month and a half from the entry into force of the decree, says the draft.

It was planned to introduce digital identity cards in early 2023, but the Ministry of Digital Development postponed the plans. Cards with electronic means should have been converted into such a certificate.
