Western Digital: Hackers claim to have stolen 10TB of data during invasion

A group of cybercriminals illegally accessed Western Digital (WD) systems and confirmed that a large amount of data was stolen during the intrusion. according to website TechCrunchinterviewing one of the hackers, about 10TB of data obtained in the process.

Now, the group is asking for large sums of money – tens or hundreds of millions of dollars – to not disclose the information to the public. The data allegedly contains the customer’s personal information.

The hacker group used not ransomware to encrypt files, but a vulnerability in the infrastructure that guaranteed access to the company’s Microsoft Azure environment.
