Microsoft will stop producing computer accessories under its own brand

Microsoft will stop making mice, keyboards and other accessories under the Microsoft brand, writes The Verge. The company will sell the rest of the goods at the established prices.

The company will pay more attention to the new Surface brand, which also includes PC accessories.

“We will continue to offer a range of Surface-branded PC products, including mice, keyboards, pens, docking stations, adaptable accessories and more,” said Dan Laycock, Microsoft senior manager of communications.

Surface-branded accessories are significantly more expensive than Microsoft’s, the newspaper notes. For example, the Surface keyboard is $129, while a similar Microsoft-branded keyboard is $60.

Microsoft’s revenue from the sale of PC accessories fell 30% in the last fiscal quarter.
