Samsung and LG are investing billions of dollars to produce OLED screens for upcoming Apple devices.

Samsung will move $3.05 billion to refurbish its main plant in South Korea. The company plans to produce OLED screens from 2620×2200 mm substrates.

Now Samsung is making OLED screens from 1850x1500mm substrates, and this production is considered advanced. After the plant, its efficiency doubled.

LG is investing $2.5 billion to build new production lines for the production of OLED screens.

Samsung and LG are counting OLED display suppliers for MacBooks and iPads.

Currently, both companies account for 80% of all OLED screens at the end of the release. But Chinese BOE, Visionox and Everdisplay Optronics are actively expanding production thanks to government funding. [Nikkei Asia]
