Russian push-button phones in the first quarter of 2023 surpassed imported models in terms of the number of sales, Izvestia writes with reference to the retailer M.Video-Eldorado. According to the results of January-March, its participation rose to 60% of the market in units.
In the first quarter of 2022, the share of domestic push-button phones was 40%.
“The most popular domestic brands include F+ and Texet, Philips is among the leaders of foreign brands,” the retailer said.
Despite the fact that users switched to smartphones long ago, the sales of push-button devices remain at a high level, according to M.Video-Eldorado. In the first quarter, 1.1 million push-button telephones were sold. This is 15% of the total sales of all mobile devices, according to the company.
They clarified that buyers often buy these phones as an additional device for work or the main device for children or the elderly. In addition, a push-button telephone is more reliable in matters of confidentiality.
The growth in sales of push-button home phones is associated with the exit of Nokia, which was one of the main providers of this type of device.
The Finnish manufacturer announced its withdrawal from the Russian market in March 2022 due to the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine.
At the beginning of the year, Megafon introduced a line of its own push-button telephones. Its cost starts from 790 rubles.
