A new study found that four signs point to an increased risk of developing bowel cancer. Scientists from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis answered this question.
As part of this study, the experts analyzed data on more than 5,000 people with early bowel cancer (appearing before age 50).
Experts say that between three months and two years before diagnosis, patients at high risk of developing bowel cancer will experience four symptoms. This diarrhea, abdominal pain, rectal bleeding, iron deficiency anemia.
Also, if a person has at least one of the above symptoms, it almost doubles their chances of developing bowel cancer. In the presence of two symptoms, the risk increases more than 3.5 times, in the presence of three or more symptoms – more than 6.5 times.
