In previous years, Android updates featured prominently in such presentations, but this time Android 14 was only mentioned in passing during discussions about lock screen customization options.

Sameer Samat, Vice President of Android Ecosystem, announced that Google’s approach has changed. The company releases updates continuously throughout the year rather than bundling new features in a single OS update. This method resolves the Android fragmentation issue by allowing feature updates and security patches to be deployed faster.

While the capabilities of Android 14 may not have caused much excitement, the emerging market has changed the landscape of the industry. A combination of hardware announcements, AI demos, and software reflects this changing dynamic.
