Georgian Airways will start flights to Russia from May 20. Flights from Tbilisi to Moscow will be carried out seven times a week. This was reported by the Georgia Civil Aviation Agency on a social network.
“Georgian Airways is starting regular operations on the Tbilisi-Moscow-Tbilisi route. According to the airline’s request sent to the Civil Aviation Agency, the flights will be carried out seven times a week from May 20.
On May 10, Vladimir Putin signed decrees on the abolition of the visa regime for Georgian citizens from May 15 and the lifting of the ban on direct flights to this country. The flight restriction has been in force since 2019.
The day before, Russian airlines applied to the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency for permission to fly. They noted that only those carriers that were not affected by international sanctions would be allowed to fly.
Azimuth was the first to receive the permit, it will be able to operate flights from May 17. The Georgian authorities expect from the resumption of air communication between the countries additional income in the field of tourism of up to 400 million dollars a year.
