According to the official, the department he heads has repeatedly tried to meet with the reporter’s representatives since January, but without success. Fadzil also noted that “Telegram is of greatest concern” as authorities have received complaints about the distribution of porn, drugs and scams on the messenger.

“I asked the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to consider what appropriate decisions should be made. This is due to the large number of complaints we receive and we do not see sincerity in Telegram’s desire to cooperate.”
