Foreign companies that sold their businesses in Russia withdrew about $36 billion during the year. In total, 200 asset sale transactions were completed during the year.
At the same time, only 20% of them sold a business worth more than $100 million, Maxim Osadchiy, head of the BKF bank’s analytical department, told RIA Novosti after analyzing Bank of Russia data.
- Foreign companies that suspended their work in Russia or left the country lost between $200 and $240 billion from the end of February to September 2022. US and UK companies suffered the most losses.
- Even up to $2 billion was lost by brands that abandoned or suspended their activities in Russia after February 2022. Sweden’s H&M, Spain’s Inditex and IKEA suffered the most notable losses.
