How do I delete my Instagram account?
- Log in to your web browser via the Instagram site
- click you in the top right User name
- To choose Edit Profile next to your profile name
- At the bottom of the page you can now choose Temporarily disable my account
Your profile is now temporarily disabled. The upside is that you can re-enable the account if you want to continue using it.

Why should you delete Instagram?
Instagram is a popular social media service where you can share your photos with others. If you no longer use the service, or if you decide that you do not want your content online, you can temporarily disable or permanently delete your account. Another possible reason to ignore Instagram is Instagram’s parent company: Facebook. Not only does the company care about the privacy of its users, Facebook is also regularly involved in various privacy scandals. Therefore, you may want to delete Facebook as well. After that, it’s really gone, so you should only delete your account if you’re absolutely sure you won’t be using Facebook again. It’s also wise to question the granting of certain rights to apps on your phone. In the past, such social media apps, including Instagram, have proven vulnerable to hacker attacks. The leak is now closed, but this illustrates the risks of using an app like Instagram.

Inactive account
You don’t need to deactivate your account to prevent specific people from seeing your content. It is possible to block or restrict contacts through privacy settings.
If you deactivate your account, all your photos, along with your comments and likes, will be hidden from view by others. However, the content will not be deleted. When you log back into the service, everything becomes visible and accessible again.
It is not possible to deactivate your account from the Instagram app. To do this, you need to go to the Instagram website and log in to the service. This can be done from your computer or mobile device. Click or press your username in the top right and Edit Profile† Then select Temporarily disable my account and follow the on-screen instructions.
You can also remove Instagram photos from your profile without having to delete them. Archiving photos will cause them to disappear from your profile, but they will remain visible to you. You can archive photos by going to your profile in the Instagram app (bottom right of the screen). Press the option button, indicated by three dots. Then choose archiving (iOS) or Archive (Android).

If you later want to start using Instagram again, you will not be able to create an account with the same username as before, and your old account will not be reactivated.

Unfortunately, after deleting your account, there is no way to recover your data or reopen your account. You will then need to create a new profile.
