If you visit someone’s profile on LinkedIn, the other person can see it. If they have this setting enabled, the user will even receive an email or notification. If you prefer to browse LinkedIn anonymously, that is also possible. We explain how this works.
Being anonymous on a platform where social interaction is important can feel a little crazy. You don’t do that on Facebook and Twitter, do you? The biggest difference is, of course, that these platforms do not give notifications every time your profile is visited.
For example, if you’re visiting the profiles of employees at a competing company and don’t want to give the impression that you’re applying for a job, there may be good reasons to remain anonymous on LinkedIn. And as an employer, you may not want to approach you every time you visit a profile.
Whatever the reason, you can choose to remain anonymous on LinkedIn.
that’s how you do it
To do this, go to the LinkedIn website and click on your profile icon in the menu bar at the top of the screen. Choose here Settings and privacy and then for visibility In the menu on the left of the screen. You will find it just above Options for viewing profiles. There are three options in this menu. In first choice, Your name and titleYour name and occupation will be fully displayed to the person whose profile you are visiting.
Bee Special features of the profile You can also choose to give only a portion of it. For example, people will only see where you work. Your name cannot be seen. If you want complete anonymity, choose private mode. The other then sees that an anonymous LinkedIn member has visited their profile.
If you choose one of the last two options, LinkedIn will warn you that you will no longer be able to see who viewed your profile. The profile visitors overview is also deleted. If you only have one Premium account, you can see who visits your profile while remaining anonymous yourself.
A workaround is to not sign in when you want to view a LinkedIn profile. The downside to this is that you only see the user’s public profile. For example, you’re missing ways to contact us or view a comprehensive resume.
