A Xiaomi launched the Redmi 12 this Thursday (15), a model that accidentally appeared on the brand’s website in Portugal last week, explaining the details of its technical sheet. The new entry phone comes with Android 13 running under MIUI 14 interface.

The successor of the Redmi 11 has a 6.79-inch LCD display with Full HD+ resolution, a refresh rate of 90 Hz and a maximum brightness of 550 nits. Again, the panel has a perforated cutout in the upper middle to house the selfie camera with an 8MP sensor.

The rear camera set has a triple configuration and is optimized with artificial intelligence (AI) resources. The main sensor, 50 MP and f/1.8 aperture, is accompanied by an 8 MP ultra-wide lens with 120º angle and f/2.2 aperture and 2 MP macro with f/2.4 aperture.

Inside is the MediaTek Helio G88 processor responsible for powering the Redmi 12. It can come with 4GB or 8GB RAM memory (there is virtual expansion up to 16GB) and 128GB or 256GB internal storage, with the last item being the possibility to expand using a microSD card.

Regarding the battery, Xiaomi’s new basic mobile has a 5,000mAh capacity component, which, according to the manufacturer, guarantees up to 16 hours of uninterrupted video playback. The power bank supports 18W fast charging.

The smartphone’s technical sheet also mentions a fingerprint sensor on the side, P2 port for headphones, USB-C port, NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3 and 4G LTE, it is not compatible with 5G networks. Another outstanding feature is its water and dust resistant IP53 rating.

Already on sale in Thailand, Redmi 12 costs 5,299 THB, equivalent to 735 BRL based on the price of the dayValue for the 8GB + 128GB configuration — not including taxes and fees — prices for other variants have not been disclosed. There is still no release date for more countries.
