The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has approved the Irregular Heart Rate Notification feature of the Galaxy Watch 6, as Samsung announced this Monday (4). The feature will be available to all users through the One UI 5 Watch update.

The function works in conjunction with the Galaxy Watch 6’s Blood Pressure and Electrocardiogram Monitoring options. runs in the background and is on by defaultThus, the user does not need to open any application and can continue to use the watch normally.

“The new feature ‘Irregular Heart Rate Notification’ comes as a complement to Samsung’s quest to make technology a powerful ally in people’s daily lives,” said Bruno Freitas, senior manager, Mobile Experience Wearables, Samsung Brazil.

“Using our watches, they are able to monitor vital signs such as blood pressure and heart rate and continuously improve their health and well-being.”

What is this for?

The tracking approved by Anvisa serves the following purposes: Detect irregular heartbeats, above or below the preset BPMs (beats per minute) in the Samsung Health Monitor app. The analysis allows the carrier to identify possible heart problems such as arrhythmias.

The notification can also help the user identify more complex health conditions such as heart failure or stroke. However, it cannot detect heart attacks.

Distributed with update

This functionality will be available to everyone soon with the One UI 5 Watch update. A Galaxy Watch equipped with a BioActive sensor is required for the feature to work (available on Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic models).
