He Apple Watch Series 9 it’s official. Apple’s new smartwatch was presented at the event thirst for miracles iPhone 15 and, as expected, it has fewer new features than previous years’ models.
That doesn’t mean the device won’t bring important improvements. Apple has decided that the Watch Series 9 will retain the format of the 2022 version, albeit with minor changes in the color section. The smartwatch is now available in pink with an aluminum body.
The main change that the Apple Watch Series 9 boasts is on the inside. The watch comes with new S9 chip, which, unlike previous years, does not imply a simple change in nomenclature. The hardware in question, supposedly based on the A15 Bionic iPhone 13, promises not only better performance but also greater power efficiency.
According to Apple, the smartwatch’s new processor includes a GPU that is 30% more powerful than previous hardware. It delivers faster browsing and better rendering of watchOS 10 animations. Plus, it uses a 4-core neural engine and a new ultra-wideband chip to make it easier (and more accurate) to find your iPhone from the watch.
Another notable change has been made to the Apple Watch Series 9 screen, which now reaches peak brightness 2000 nits. That is twice as much as the Series 8. Additionally, the panel brightness can drop to just 1 nit. In addition, Apple has improved integration with Siri on Watch Series 9. From now on, requests to the virtual assistant are processed internally and are also integrated with health data.
Apple Watch Series 9 can now be controlled without touching the screen
But that is not all. Cupertino also introduced a new type of gestures for controlling the Apple Watch Series 9. Double tap, or “double tap,” which allows you to perform actions by touching the pads of the index finger and thumb of the hand on which you are wearing the watch. It’s worth noting that this option is based on an accessibility feature that previously existed in the Apple Watch called AssistiveTouch.
At the presentation of the device, Apple indicated that the new gesture allows you to perform actions on the Watch Series 9 without touching the screen. For example, answering a call. It’s important to note that this feature won’t be available out of the box, but will be added to the watch via a software update coming in October.
