Apple announced today (19) the launch of Tap to Pay functionality in BrazilThis allows you to accept contactless payments in person right on your iPhone without the need for any extra terminals or hardware. The feature launched in the United States in 2022 and is rolling out to more and more countries.
With the new feature, Merchants can use the iPhone as a card machine to take debit and credit payments.. Functionality is compatible with major brands including Mastercard, Visa and American Express.
The service includes an app that will process the transaction, fill in the amount and other details, and requires the customer to bring their iPhone or Apple Watch close to the merchant’s Apple mobile phone.
It is worth noting that the payment is made via Apple Pay and a debit or credit card can be used via NFC or another digital wallet. According to Maça, all transactions are protected by encryption.
“Tap to Pay on iPhone has helped businesses of all sizes around the world, from freelancers to major retailers, deliver new payment experiences, and we’re excited to offer Brazilian merchants an easy, secure, and private payment solution,” Jennifer Bailey, vice president of Apple Pay he said in a statement.

To use Tap to Pay, you need an iPhone XS or later with the latest version of iOSAccording to Apple. Additionally, the merchant must install the partner’s app on their mobile phone to process transactions. CloudWalk is the first to offer the resource to customers in Brazil.
In addition to the fintech managing InfinitePay machines, more payment platforms will soon make this functionality available to business customers. Next up are Nubank, SumUp, Granito and StoneAccording to the technology giant.
