iPadOS 16 finally lets you work with windows like on a Mac

WWDC 2022 began, as usual, with the main novelties of Apple’s operating systems. The company from Cupertino was not slow to announce ipad OS 16, new version for iPad, which makes this device more versatile and functional product. What’s more, it all inherits some of the best features of iOS 16.

Apple has spent years perfecting how users can interact with multiple apps at the same time, and while the version currently available on the company’s tablets offers more intuitive controls, it was not possible to perform some actions, such as using a floating window with a different format, how slide on; a function that, remember, only opens a floating window on one side of the screen.

Now, with iPadOS 16 and Statge Manager, it’s not only easier to open open apps and scroll through them. You can also adjust the size of each one., as if it were a macOS app. This allows, for example, to resize Safari so that it only takes up part of the screen and the rest is available to another application that we need to use at the same time.

iPadOS 16 now also allows iPad Air with M1 and iPad Pro with the same SoC use the external display much more fully. According to the company, compatibility will allow devices to be connected to monitors with resolutions up to 6K and use up to four applications at the same time.

The Weather app is coming to iPad

Another new iPadOS 16 is new Weather app for iPad. Weather information can be accessed in the same way as we do on the iPhone, and not through the browser

iPadOS 16 also includes new features for share content with people in a much simpler and more intuitive way. For example, you can create a collaborative document with multiple people so they can edit the file in real time, which Google Docs already allows.

What’s new in iMessage, improved Live Text and more

iPadOS 16 also includes some improvements over iOS 16 and macOS, such as a new setting for delete previously sent messages in iMessage, edit chats, or even mark a message in a conversation as “unread”. Also Live Text improvements, such as the ability to scan text into videos or remove the background from photos and leave only the theme, new features in Spotlight, and an improved Mail app.

On the other hand, the new version of the operating system for iPad makes using Safari more secure. This is partly due to passwordsunique access codes that allow you to log into the platforms in a much more secure way, since the access data is not stored in the cloud, but on the device itself.

When will iPadOS 16 be available?

iPadOS 16 will begin rolling out in the developer beta phase beginning June 6, 2022. The public beta will arrive in July, according to the company, while the final version will be available in the fall. These are compatible devices.
