Searching for the name of that song that you can’t forget is a habit that never goes out of fashion and is increasingly solved by technology. So, for a few days Shazam is available in both the menu bar and control center of macOS Sonomaso you can “shazame” anyone without opening any additional windows.

Integration for now Available starting with macOS Sonoma 14.2 beta, will allow users to use Shazam without having to download the app to the device. It will be officially launched in the last weeks of December.

Shazam is coming to macOS Sonoma

With macOS Sonoma 14.2 beta 2, you can now add Shazam to your Mac’s menu bar or Control Center via System Settings. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Open the app Adjustment of the system.
2. To choose Go to “Control Center” in the sidebar and find the new “Music Recognition” section.
3. Activate button Shazam for the menu bar and another for the Control Center or both, depending on your preference.

With the Shazam menu bar icon, you can see the history of predefined songs. When you click on the album cover, that song opens in the Music app. Click anywhere else and you’ll be taken to the Shazam website.

Until now, it was possible to add Shazam to Mac thanks to the macOS version or by using the tool via Siri. Briefly, macOS Sonoma will have a native feature when version 14.2 is available. The same thing happens with iPhones or iPads. Apple is expected to release macOS Sonoma 14.2 by the end of the year.

Apple bought Shazam for $400 million in 2018. Since then, the music identification service has been developed to be integrated into the company’s services. With the official release of iOS 14.2 came a new function integrated into the Control Center that allows the user to identify songs with one touch.

Starting from 2016, the music recognition feature with the Control Center was added to the Shazam application. In 2023, Apple Music started supporting Classical. Finally, expansion to other Apple operating systems began in the same year, and news on this is still awaited.
