Pixel 8a, as always, attracts attention with its camera, which is among the best in the market among mobile phones in its category. With the inclusion of AI features in the lens set, the device emerges as a strong competitor in its segment.
Google follows the same update policy for Pixel 8a as the models released in October last year. Then, The new mobile phone launches with Android 14 and will have seven guaranteed operating system updates.
Pixel 8a with artificial intelligence features
The Pixel 8a is a cheaper option than the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro but offers many interesting AI-based features. Check out some features for image capture:
- Best Shot: allows you to take a series of photos and choose a different facial expression, even in a group;
- Spell Editor: Allows you to move and resize objects in the scene to make the background more attractive;
- Audio Magic Eraser: Allows you to remove unwanted background sounds from recorded videos.
For the cameras, in addition to skin tone enhancer, there are other AI features available that improve capture in different types of scenarios, including low-light environments.
Google’s artificial intelligence-based assistant Gemini is also available on Pixel 8a. With it, you can get more personalized responses and easily add visuals to different types of tasks to make your daily life easier. You can also install extensions to extract summary information from other applications, such as emails and text editors. This is the first time an ‘a’ variant Pixel has received this feature.
“Search Circular” lets you easily search for content in apps by simply circling, doodling, or tapping on images. “Pixel Call Assist” is a set of features for dealing with calls, including unwanted calls.
Another important feature is the easy configuration that will make the mobile phone ready for the child’s use. You can then use “Family Link” to manage and monitor this usage.

As said, the Pixel 8a is powered by the Google Tensor G3 chipset. The device has 8 GB RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB storage options. The OLED display is 6.1 inches and has Full HD+ resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, and 2,000 nits brightness (peak). The device weighs 188 grams and has an IP67 certificate against water and dust.
In terms of cameras, the device has a 64 MP main sensor and a 13 MP ultra-wide sensor. The front camera has 13 MP and wide viewing angle to fit more people in selfies. As for the battery, the company promises 24 hours of autonomy. 4,492 mAh capacity available with 30W charging and wireless charging.
The Pixel 8a is on pre-sale at the Google Store, starting at $499 (about R$2,500). In Brazil it can only be purchased through import. The device is available in four colors: aloe, laurel, obsidian and porcelain; and with two types of frames: matte and aluminum.
