While one of the biggest highlights of WWDC 2024 was without a doubt the Apple Intelligence presentation, the truth is that beyond Apple’s own features, The integration with ChatGPT has received some applause. Although Elon Musk did not like this at all, he even threatened to ban iPhones in his companies, the truth is that this opens up a wide range of possibilities for the user.

However, this integration with ChatGPT, which will be the first, will not be the only one. Or at least that’s the intention of Apple itself, which is opening the door for other third-party artificial intelligence to be integrated into the iPhone. Who knows if we’ll see Claude 3 next, but the big question is whether it will be integrated with ChatGPT’s biggest competitor: Gemini.

Apple is not closed to integrating Gemini into its iPhone, or at least that’s what Apple executives themselves said in an interview after the great WWDC 2024 Keynote.

Gemini could come to iPhone after ChatGPT

Craig Federighi and John Giannandrea laid out many of the details of Apple’s own artificial intelligence and hinted at a possible deal with Google Gemini in the future:

We think that eventually people will probably have a preference for certain models that they want to use, perhaps one that’s great for creative writing or one that they prefer for coding. That’s why we want users to ultimately be able to use the model of their choice.

We can therefore look forward to integration with various models such as Google Gemini in the future. I mean, there’s nothing to announce right now, but that’s our direction.

Craig Federich

Although, as we can see, there is no closed agreement, this opens up the possibility for Apple to integrate different models, and the choice is up to the user. And with this thing about artificial intelligence They position themselves as the search engines of the future. The truth is that everything indicates that we will see a similar situation with the choice of search engines, but for AI assistants.

We don’t know if Gemini will end up on the iPhone or if Google is actually going to add its AI to its eternal rival, given the efforts it’s making to integrate them into Android. Actually, We do not know whether negotiations on this matter are already underway.although we can understand why Apple started with ChatGPT: according to Federighi, Apple wanted to “start with the best.”

In the meantime, we’ll have to wait to test the first Apple Intelligence, which will arrive later this year on the iPhone 15 Pro and later, as well as all Macs and iPad M series. On the other hand, ChatGPT integration. it will take a little more time.
