The emergence of artificial intelligence in the world of mobile technology is just beginning, as at the moment we are only in the software stage and how modern cell phones (or as we know them) use the new features of cameras, microphones and text, video and image processors.

However, Samsung this is after Galaxy AIwants to go further and already expects that the hardware will also change radically.

TM Ro, President of Samsung’s Mobile Experience (MX) Division, spoke with Australian Financial Review and said that “much” of Samsung’s research and development is focused on so-called artificial intelligence phones and that cell phones can change shape.

Hardware “may be radically different existing Samsung phones,” TM Ro commented in this interview.

What shape might they take? TM Roh didn’t provide specific details, but his comment about something “radically different” hints that the traditional rectangular design could change. Roh noted that AI-powered phones will be more “mobile,” which doesn’t necessarily mean smaller, but could also have larger screens and more sensors.

Samsung is adding its headphones to its AI toolkit (with language translation), so accessories could be part of the strategy.

At the moment there are several companies that have released such devices as Rabbit R1which promised to change the way terminal AI is achieved, but so far it has been a far from successful experiment. This could be a challenge and an opportunity for Samsung to enter uncharted territory.
