The price of the Galaxy Z Fold series scares away many consumers who are interested in the format but not its high cost. This should not change. Samsung has reportedly confirmed that it has no plans to launch a cheap or cost-cutting version of its foldable series.
The information was conveyed by two different sources following the same path. A brand representative would confirm the details to the SamMobile website after commenting on the recently launched Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. “Rather than thinking of (Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition) as a premium product, it’s a product that expands your options. You can choose according to your taste. “We currently have no plans to launch a separate product at a lower price,” said an anonymous source.
South Korean website Sisa Journal revealed the same information with very similar quotes that Samsung is not considering releasing a cheaper Galaxy Z Fold smartphone. Due to the similarity between the statements, it is likely that both sites interviewed the same source who was supposed to comment on the new Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.
stagnant sales
Despite the Asian company’s statements, past rumors indicated that Samsung might launch the Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE in the future, but it has postponed those plans. There is no information on the reasons why the giant stopped this launch, but everything indicates that we will not have a cheap foldable anytime soon.
The brand’s strategy is quite bold, as there have been numerous reports lately pointing to a stagnation in the number of foldable sales. Besides the price reduction that could attract more consumers, there is also a call for the creation of more applications fully optimized for devices of this format.
