Honor Magic 7 and 7 Pro: more camera and Snapdragon 8 Elite

Honor is taking things up a notch as it just unveiled a new model in China on October 30th. Honor Magic 7 and Honor Magic 7 Pro.

Both cell phones work with Snapdragon 8 Elite and use the processing power of its NPUs to solve a variety of artificial intelligence tasks – from a digital assistant to improved camera data processing.

The Honor Magic7 also features an LTPO (1-120Hz) OLED display, this time a 6.78-inch flat screen (1264 x 2800 pixels). This model also switches to an ultrasonic fingerprint reader (January’s Magic6 and Pro used optical readers). There’s no 3D face scanner, so you only have a fingerprint scanner (and a smaller hole in the screen).

The package includes a 50 MP telephoto lens with a focal length of 68 mm and OIS (3x optical, up to 50x digital zoom). It is joined by a 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.3-inch matrix, fixed f/1.9 aperture) and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera (122° with macro mode). The selfie camera is equipped with a 50 MP sensor and a lens with a 90° viewing angle.

The Magic7 features a third-generation Honor Qinghai Lake battery with a capacity of 5650mAh (200mAh more than its predecessor) and supports the same fast charging as the Pro, with 100W wired power and 80W wireless power (vs. 66W/55W). W). .

It is resistant to hot water and is IP69 certified.

The Honor Magic7 starts at RMB 4,500 for the base 12GB/256GB model (equivalent to $630/€585/£53,000). There are several upgrade options: 12/512 GB for 4800 yuan, 16/512 GB for 5000 yuan and 16 yuan. GB/1 TB for 5500 yuan.

Honor Magic 7 Pro

The big upgrade to the Honor Magic7 Pro is the 200MP telephoto lens, which replaces the already impressive 180MP camera on the Magic6 Pro. The new sensor is quite large and is located behind the 60mm lens. This provides a handy 2.5x zoom on the short end, which can be extended up to 100x using the digital zoom.

The main camera remains the same, with a 50 MP 1/1.3″ sensor and variable aperture (f/1.4-f/2.0), as well as optical image stabilization. The ultra-wide-angle camera is essentially the same: a 50-megapixel sensor and a 12mm f/2.0 (122°) lens that can focus just a couple of centimeters for macro shots.

The front camera has another 50 MP sensor and a 90° wide-angle lens (f/2.0). The pill-shaped cutout holds it and a 3D face scanner for secure biometric unlocking. Unlike camera-based approaches, this one works in the dark because it has its own infrared illuminator. The ultrasonic fingerprint reader also works in the dark.

The reader is integrated into a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED screen (1-120 Hz) with a resolution of 1280 x 2800 pixels and 10-bit color (Dolby Vision). Global maximum brightness is 1,600 nits, but HDR content can reach 5,000 nits.

The battery capacity inside the Pro has increased to 5850mAh (250mAh more than the Magic6 Pro), the biggest improvement here is faster charging: 100W wired and 80W wireless compared to the previous version of the phone – 80W/66W.

The Honor Magic7 Pro starts at RMB 5,700 for the 12GB/256GB model ($800/€740/€67,250). A pair of higher tiers are also available: 16GB/512GB for RMB 6,200 and 16GB/1TB for RMB 6,700.
