Vivo made a somewhat strange move by introducing a new smartphone with a name that the company has already used on another model. Although this one, yes, gets its name by including a feature that we rarely see in terminals in this price range. It’s about Vivo B40 SE 80Wmodel this in Hypertext We were able to conduct thorough testing to see if the mid-range model is really worth buying.
Apart from fast charging, the Vivo V40 SE 80W has other interesting features. This is a smartphone with a thoughtful design and a bright screen. It also includes 5000 mAh batteryand has a dual camera system that the company calls Aura Light; flash that allows you to change the tone of the light.
Vivo offers all this and more specs like a Snapdragon processor with 8GB RAM, for 329 euros. On paper this seems like an interesting option. But can all this compete with mid-range brands such as Xiaomi, Samsung or Nothing?
Careful design and amazing screen
Vivo usually bets on somewhat unique design for your smartphoneswith backrests in different finishes, bright colors and somewhat ostentatious photo modules. And in this Vivo V40 SE 80W everything will be different. Be careful, this doesn’t mean it’s not pretty. In fact, the design of the smartphone is quite impressive. In the case of the device we were able to test in this format, the back has a slightly gradient purple hue, which gives it a very elegant appearance. Of course, even though it is matte, there are very few fingerprints.
The polycarbonate back is combined with frames of the same tone and material. Their thickness is only 7.79 mm. The Vivo V40 SE 80W is also quite lightweight, weighing just 191 grams.
By the way, there is a screen. 6.4 inches. This is an AMOLED panel with Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. It is a colorful screen with good clarity and refresh rate, which no doubt makes the user experience more satisfying. To this we must add brightness up to 1800 nits; allowing you to enjoy multimedia content even in wide lighting conditions, such as bright sunlight.
Performance and autonomy Vivo V40 SE 80W
Let’s talk about two very important sections: performance and autonomy.
The Vivo V40 SE 80W has an American Qualcomm processor. In particular, Snapdragon 4 generation 2. This is a SoC aimed at entry-level and mid-range smartphones, which in this case is accompanied by a generous 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Vivo is also offering a virtual RAM upgrade option, bringing the total storage capacity of the device to 16GB.
Performance is sufficient for most tasks, such as browsing social networks, using multimedia applications, occasional games, basic image editing, etc. In more, shall we say, extreme situations, the processor requires a little more power, as lags usually appear in more demanding tasks or slight slowdowns, although this is not alarming.
In terms of battery, Vivo V40 SE is 80W. It has a capacity of 5000 mAh. power that does a very good job. The smartphone works without problems all day long. As if that weren’t enough, the terminal, as the name suggests, can charge at up to 80W.
Two cameras, a very powerful flash and a bit of artificial intelligence.
The Vivo V40 SE 80W’s camera is somewhat curious, even though its configuration is very similar to what we find in many mid-range phones. In this case, the terminal has Main sensor 50 megapixels and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera.
The main camera has fairly fast lens (f/1.8) and allows you to take photos with good detail and correct exposure even in a well-lit room. The ultra-wide angle is also quite effective in bright rooms. However, in low light conditions it tends to create a lot of noise, so its use is not recommended.
However, the Vivo v40 SE 80W camera has a very interesting additional feature: flash. The company chose a system called Aura Light, which can be especially useful for portrait photography. The flash in particular simulates a ring of light, which also allows you to change tones to glow in warmer and cooler colors.
Of course, so does the Vivo v40 SE. It has some AI featuressuch as one that is capable of “recovering” old or blurry images and converting them into higher quality images. Also one that allows you to remove elements from an image, although these are coming soon in a software update.
Is Vivo v40 SE 80W worth the money?
Vivo V40 SE 80W for 329 euros is a very interesting smartphone, especially for those looking for a device for consuming multimedia content. While fast charging is a very nice addition, it is not the deciding feature when purchasing a smartphone. First of all, if you take into account that the battery itself is not bad. Yes, the screen is undoubtedly one of the best aspects of this terminal. The panel has very good resolution, a high refresh rate and more than enough brightness for everyday use.
In addition, it is complemented by a versatile camera and performance that, although it could be more powerful, is ideal for everyday tasks. All this with very careful design.
However, it should be taken into account that the Vivo V40 SE 80W has serious competitors. One of them is the Nothing Phone (2a) (can now be found for 299 euros), which has a very striking design, a very good screen and slightly more advanced performance than this Vivo mobile. However, the Chinese company is running a very attractive promotion to try to convince users: when purchasing this smartphone, it is giving away headphones and an 80W charger.
