Huawei continues to be one of the major players in the smartwatch market. The company has always looked for very creative ways to differentiate itself from its competitors, using innovative and alternative designs or additional features that other manufacturers introduce much later. Now the company is releasing Huawei Watch D2, a device that combines classic design with rarely seen functionality: Capable of measuring blood pressure in real time.

And despite the general appearance of a regular smartwatch, the Huawei Watch D2 includes a second hidden strap that automatically inflates and serves specifically for measure blood pressurefunctionality that unites other classic versions of the company’s smartwatches. And be careful because it is CE certified (MDR) to provide accurate blood pressure measurement 24 hours a day.

This is the first smartwatch from one of the major companies in the phone market to include this feature, and with certification that catapults it to the level of distance-traversing medical devices.

The measurement system, as we say, is not entirely passive: the watch uses a physical airbag to inflate and periodically measure blood pressure with smart reminders throughout the day and sleep measurements at night. Generally speaking, this requires some attention, although measurements are taken in different scenarios, such as standing, sitting or semi-sitting throughout the day.

All this, besides in the device is 1/5 of the width, 1/25 of the volume and 1/26 of the weight of electronic tonometers traditional armrests with ultra-narrow airbag thickness of only 26.5 mm. It’s a little thicker than the next generation of standard smartwatches, but not much thicker than typical extreme sports smartwatches like Ultra different brands.

Huawei Watch D2: much more than just measuring blood pressure

And this is not the only health indicator that the Huawei Watch D2 is capable of measuring: it includes measurement and analysis using step-by-step ECG, monitoring SpO2, heart rate, stress level and skin temperature. The latter’s functions are present in most high- and mid-range devices on the market. In total, the watch is able to measure 9 body parameters and create an overall health report to identify your possible risks.

It is logical that there are some problems with the device. The inflatable blood pressure bag may malfunctionbut the company confirms that the purchase of Huawei Watch D2 includes a replacement airbag within 12 months after purchasing the product. However, after this change you will have to go to the cashier.

The watch will be available from today on the Huawei Store and will be gradually rolled out to authorized retail outlets over time, the company has confirmed. official price 399 euros. And now you can read our review.
