One of the new features of watchOS 9, which is now available to everyone, is Apple Watch Power Saving Mode. Unlike the previous system, this new mode allows you to extend your watch’s battery life without literally sacrificing all of its features. Until now, if you activated Battery Saver Mode, the only thing available to you was to check the time, and that would also force you to restart your Apple Watch to delete it.

However, Apple has included a new, more efficient and practical system for when a battery is needed. It’s not that intrusive, and actually allows the Apple Watch to be almost fully functional.. While some features have been disabled, most are still available.

Apple has published a document explaining what features are available with the new Apple Watch Battery Saver feature. On the one hand, by activating this mode, you can extend the battery life of the watch. up to 36 hours without rechargingif optimal conditions are met. In the case of Ultra, these hours go up to 60 hours.

What’s Lost When Activating Apple Watch Low Power Mode

Whenever you turn on power saving mode, watchOS automatically disables the following features:

  • The screen is always active (if you have it configured).
  • Heart rate notifications for irregular rhythm, high heart rate and low heart rate.
  • Heart rate measurements in the background.
  • Background of measurements of oxygen in the blood.
  • Reminders to start your workout.

In addition, Power Saving Mode also disables the following features when iPhone is not nearby:

  • Wi-Fi and cellular.
  • Incoming phone calls and notifications.

How to turn on Low Power Mode on Apple Watch

Each time you activate Low Power Mode, an information screen appears. You can activate it point by point or for a longer period: Apple allows you to choose between 1 day, 2 days, or 3 days.. Activating the new low power mode is very easy and can be done right from the watch:

  • Press and hold the bottom of the Apple Watch screen. Wait for the Control Center to appear, then swipe up.
  • Press the battery percentage button.
  • Turn on low power mode.

However, you can also activate low consumption mode from the configuration options:

  • Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.
  • Scroll down and find Battery.
  • Turn on low power mode

Although it can be activated, as we say, manually, when the battery of the Apple Watch drops to 10%, an alert will appear asking if you want to activate the low consumption mode. And unlike the previous system to save battery power, low power mode automatically turns off when the battery is 80% chargedunless you decide to activate it for a few days.
