android 13 was officially launched a couple of months ago, and now Google has taken the opportunity to introduce its Go Edition; that is, a version designed for low-cost mobile phones. It will be available from 2023 and will include exciting new features such as the introduction of the Material You design language.
Although this look first appeared in Android 12, it was not included in the most limited variant of this OS. The thing is, the Go Edition in question was focused on performance improvements and additional privacy options, while the aesthetic section was left aside.
Luckily, Android 13 Go Edition justifies itself and uses a graphical interface identical to that of any other smartphone updated to the latest software versions. This means that every time users change their wallpaper, the rest of the system will automatically update your color scheme to match it.
Other features that the software inherits from the full version of Android 13: notification permissions and language settings for apps. The former allows users to explicitly choose which downloaded apps can send push notifications, while the latter provides the ability to set each app to display in a specific language, regardless of the language set on the phone system.
Android 13 Go Edition also comes with the best updates.
The promise of better software updates is also present in Android 13 Go Edition. Google explained that this option will include the ability to install system patches via Google Play. In this way, phones will remain secure even if a vulnerability is discovered, without having to wait for a full operating system update.
The latter also represents a huge improvement over previous generations. Let’s not forget that many manufacturers didn’t update their Android Go devices after they were released; especially in emerging markets. And if they were, then not very often.
In addition, Android 13 Go Edition will include a version of Google Discover which will allow users to view a selection of articles and various content. To access, you need to go to the main screen of the mobile and swipe to the right from the left edge of the screen.
Regarding the availability of Android 13 Go Edition, Mountain View representatives did not provide details. They only mentioned that the first phones with this technology will hit the market next year, without detailing models or markets. What they highlighted on Google is that today already have 250 million active devices per month those who use the most limited version of their mobile OS.
