Compared to the previous generation, each 0.56 µm pixel of the new sensor manages to be up to 12% smaller, allowing the camera modules to be up to 20% smaller, allowing for thinner phones or at least smaller protrusions. . camera sets.

The power of combining pixels

Like other sensors of its kind, ISOCELL HPX can combine its tiny pixels in different ways to enhance photography depending on lighting conditions. According to Samsung:

  • In optimum light, the sensor takes a 200 MP photo, keeping the default setting.
  • In low light, 0.56µm pixels are paired with 1.12µm paired to capture 50MP resolution photos.
  • In dark places, sixteen pixels can be combined into 2.24 µm and still photos can be taken maintaining 12.5 MP resolution.

Samsung’s new sensor also guarantees videos at 30fps in 8K or dual HDR technology in 4K. The product can create images with a depth of up to 4 trillion colors, i.e. 14-bit.
