Apple also wants to be a leader in artificial intelligence and therefore compete with OpenAI and Google. It turned out Digitimes (by using makrumura), the Cupertino-based company is planning “reconsider” the development of new artificial intelligence models to work with ChatGPT and to avoid, first of all, that Microsoft manages to dominate this market with the integration of the said tool into Bing.

Apple, we recall, holds an annual conference exclusively for employees, which discusses issues related to artificial intelligence, and this year this has already taken place. While the company was expected to talk about ChatGPT, makrumura declares that during the event the company only focused on sharing solutions related to healthcare, privacy and machine vision. The latter consists of capturing images of the real world and then processing them on a computer so that it can interpret them.

However, Apple will now work on the development of next-generation processors designed to perform AI operations, and thus be able to create software based on artificial intelligence. The company, we recall, has extensive experience in this area; many of its processors use the Neural Engine, a neural engine capable of performing various machine learning tasks faster, more accurately and more efficiently than using a GPU and a CPU.

It is not clear, yes, whether we will see products similar to ChatGPT or Bard, or instead of Apple will use AI to improve some of its services, such as Siri. Recall that the Cupertino-based firm is also working on its own search engine to compete with Google. Therefore, it would not be strange to see the launch of this AI-powered search engine in the future.

Apple is following in the footsteps of Google and putting batteries in the hands of AI product development.

Curiously, the strategy that Apple is pursuing is very similar to the one Google adopted a few months ago when it convinced ChatGPT to replace its search engine. The Mountain View Company, in particular, decided to restructure all its teams involved in the development of AI models move forward in creating an alternative to the OpenAI chatbot. A few weeks later, they announced Bard, a tool capable of offering personalized answers to any question.

Unlike Apple, Microsoft Search AI continues to dominate with the integration of ChatGPT into Bing. This new service is still in beta testing. Also, it is somewhat limited, as the chatbot tends to go crazy when it receives a lot of questions, although there is a way around these limitations.
