Apple will reintroduce Touch ID under the iPhone screen from 2026

Apple continues to apply for patents to offer a better version of Touch ID!

Touch ID may return to the bottom of the iPhone screen

Touch ID is among the iPhone components users want back. And Apple knows this but wants to do the right thing. Since 2013, the company has Patents for finding Touch ID under iPhone screen. And it’s getting close.

The latest rumors shared from the “yeux1122” news account on the Korean Naver blog claim that Touch ID will make a limited return to the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models. These will be located on the front of the screen, only have a small hole for the FaceTime camera. Face ID sensors will be hidden under the screen.

The most anticipated return will have to wait

As for one of the most anticipated returns, Consultant Ross Young is less optimistic, stating that Touch ID could arrive with the 2026 iPhone model at the earliest.Presumably within the year that Apple introduced Face ID as the front-facing camera under the screen, according to most reports, Apple could launch it by 2024 or 2025 at the latest.

This week, Apple patents under-screen Touch ID Combining shortwave infrared technology with an optical imaging system that can have multiple functions. In addition to reading the fingerprint when the user touches the screen, it will also be possible to detect the pattern of the vessels, oxygenation of the blood, pulse, the presence of gloves and moisture.

Right now, Touch ID still has a place in the Apple ecosystembut only on lower end devices like iPhone SE 3 and iPad mini 6 and MacBook series.

Despite Apple’s advances in each of its patents for embedding Touch ID under the screen, there are those who bet on including the side power button. And with that, having two types of biometric authentication technologies, one without depending on the redesign of the other to protect our information.
