This week, iPod inventor Tony Fadell revealed that Apple’s first mobile phone would have been quite different if Steve Jobs had done what he wanted. According to him, the then CEO of Apple wanted the release of the first iPhone No physical space for SIM cardsIt is responsible for transmitting the mobile phone signal.
Curiosity was shared in an interview given to journalist Joanna Stern during a special event held at the Computer History Museum. In it, Fadell explains that Jobs didn’t want to compromise the aesthetics of the first iPhone with a “hole”, replacing the key feature with CDMA technology that connects cell phones directly to carriers without the need for a SIM card.
Continuing, Fadell detailed that he needed to gather market data and assemble a team of engineers to convince Jobs that the decision wasn’t particularly good because the technology doesn’t have a wide adoption margin.
